Description

On July 5, 1776, the first broadside version of the Declaration of Independence was printed in Philadelphia for distribution across the colonies. Only a couple of days later, the first German translation was printed by the Philadelphia press of Melchior Steiner & Carl Cist, showing the importance of reaching Pennsylvania's large German-speaking population.

This high quality copy of Steiner and Cist’s broadside is made from the original in the Deutsches Historisches Museum in Berlin, one of only two surviving copies.

The poster is approximately 16” x20” and will be shipped in a tube container.
